About Us

We are a small hobby kennel based in South Yorkshire. My breeding stock are all health tested to the highest standards, consisting of five labradors and an Irish setter. I have always had dogs since an early age. My first dog was from the Drakeshead Kennels. He taught me a great deal about labradors in terms of temperament, intelligence and working ability. My interest was rekindled a number of years ago when I acquired a yellow labrador bitch from working stock. She passed both her grade one and grade two Gundog Club retriever tests with merit. Following on from her we then bought in a black labrador pup, again from working stock sired by a dog from the Drakeshead Kennels, Swaine Dentanum of Saffronlyn (Murphy) who has proven to be the all round shooting companion, picking up on my local shoot. He has won many awards at Novice, Open and Veteran Working Tests and being a member of team events winning a Novice Team Event. He has passed his grade one Gundog Club retriever test with merit and grades two and three with distinction. I have been a Kennel Club Assured Breeder since 2012. The Saffronlyn line was established in 2013 when I bred my first litter and I kept both a dog Saffronlyn Swift (Bailey) and bitch (Saffronlyn Skylark) who are regular members of my picking up team. Bailey has also been competing in Novice Working test events collecting a few awards long the way. I am also an assessor and instructor for The Gundog Trust offering graded training to all breeds of gundogs.
